Title :
Personal Epistemology and Internet-based learning
Abstract :
In recent years, educators have gradually highlighted the importance of personal epistemology in learning. However, still not many studies have explored the role of personal epistemology particularly for web-based learning. In this paper, I will summarize some recent findings on this topic. For example, it has been revealed that students will be benefited from Internet-based instruction differently with different levels of epistemological understandings. The variations of epistemological beliefs are also related to the difference of behaviors and cognitive strategies involved in web-based learning. The recommendations of future research and the implications for the implementation of web-based learning environments will be discussed. |
