To transform the learning process into an interactive and collaborative experience confers clear pedagogical benefits. Handheld devices with wireless networks provide an opportunity to support collaborative work by introducing computing capabilities through a ubiquitous channel. Two networks can be identified; the technological and the social networks. While the users communicate face to face through the social network, they support their work with the handhelds interconnected through the wireless network.

In this presentation, we show applications that make use of this two network approach analyzing implementations in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, UK and USA. We also discuss our experience in these projects focusing on the importance of the educational model and teacher training over the technology that is used.
