Call for Doctoral Student Consortium Proposals

The ICCE Doctoral Student Consortium (DSC) was first introduced in the year 2002 when the conference was held in Auckland , New Zealand . The DSC will become a regular feature of ICCE conferences in pursuit of one of the objectives of the Asia-Pacific Society for computers in Education (APSCE), namely, to nurture a vibrant community of young researchers who can become future leaders in the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

All doctoral students who have made substantial progress in the formulation of their doctoral research proposal and may have proceeded with initial development work or pilot research are welcome to submit a paper. Proposals must relate to the use of computers in education in order to qualify. Eligible students will be given the opportunity to present their research ideas, goals, and work plans for critique and mutual discussion with a panel of established researchers in the field so that feedback can be obtained, and the ideas can be further sharpened and refined.

DSC submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts comprising the DSC Subcommittee. Authors of accepted submissions will be invited to present their research to date on the first day of the conference, 30 November 2006, in Beijing . Accepted submissions will be compiled into a special DSC volume, and a two-page summary will be included for publication in the main conference proceedings to be published by IOS Press.

Participating students can also benefit from participating in the main ICCE conference, where they will have the opportunity to establish links at the international level with other students and researchers working in the related areas of research.
